The 7th annual ID4Africa general assembly is set to take place in Abidjan from May 12 to 15, 2026, at the Parc des Expositions de Port-Bouët, under the theme “Digital Identity: From Public Digital Infrastructures to Digital Public Ecosystems.”

This pan-African gathering serves as a pivotal platform where public decision-makers, technical experts, private sector leaders and international institutional representatives converge to discuss critical topics in digital identity.

The official inauguration on May 12, 2026 was presided over by the Vice-President of the Republic, Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, marking the beginning of four days of high-level exchanges.

Central to the agenda are the challenges surrounding secure population identification, seamless access to digital public services, robust data protection frameworks, and the development of inclusive digital ecosystems. The conference emphasizes moving beyond mere technical infrastructure to embrace holistic systems that integrate human, legal, institutional, and sectoral dimensions.

Established in 2014, ID4Africa has been instrumental in supporting African nations in building robust and responsible identity ecosystems that drive development, digital transformation, and humanitarian action.

By hosting this year’s assembly, Côte d’Ivoire reaffirms its commitment to advancing the continent’s digital transformation agenda. The event also underscores the nation’s dedication to fostering a reliable digital identity framework, essential for ensuring citizens’ access to vital public services.
