French football fans could soon enjoy free weekly Ligue 1 matches
Soon, football enthusiasts might be able to tune into a Ligue 1 fixture without a subscription, free-to-air, every single week. This significant shift is envisioned by a recent amendment to a legislative proposal aimed at overhauling professional sports, a measure currently under scrutiny by the National Assembly. Presently, accessing live Ligue 1 action necessitates a subscription to the Ligue1+ streaming service, which costs upwards of 15 euros monthly. The platform currently boasts an impressive subscriber base of around one million.
