Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko concluded his participation prematurely in the patriotic walking tour held on Sunday, May 17, 2026. Organized by Dakar Mayor Abass Fall, the event was themed “the march towards 2029.”
Our observations from the scene indicated that the head of government was unable to complete the walk alongside other attendees due to significant overcrowding and a noticeable lack of order among participants.
This situation drew sharp criticism from Dakar’s Mayor, Abass Fall, who openly denounced the indiscipline displayed by a segment of the crowd.
« We genuinely face a problem. It is unacceptable to invite a high authority here only for people to behave in an undisciplined manner. This is not right. We gathered for a walk, so why can’t people maintain discipline? Now, he has left because of this, » the Mayor stated emphatically.
When questioned by a journalist regarding the evident affection militants showed for Ousmane Sonko, Abass Fall responded: « Affection must be tempered with intelligence. One must be intelligent. This truly presents a problem! »
