Côte d’Ivoire’s top geospatial leader recognized for transformative work
Abidjan, 20 June 2026 – Dr Edouard Fonh-Gbéi, Director-General of the National Committee for Remote Sensing and Geographic Information (CNTIG), was honored this week at the African Economic Builders Gala in recognition of his leadership in advancing geospatial technology across the region.
The prestigious award, presented on 18 June 2026, celebrates his decade-long contribution to positioning Côte d’Ivoire as a leader in digital mapping and territorial development. Speaking after the ceremony, Dr Fonh-Gbéi emphasized that the recognition belongs not just to him, but to the entire CNTIG team.

Appointed in 2012 following an international competitive process, Dr Fonh-Gbéi brings over two decades of global experience in geodetic engineering and satellite geodesy. Under his leadership, the CNTIG has become a cornerstone of Côte d’Ivoire’s digital transformation, turning geoinformation into a strategic asset for economic growth and sustainable urban planning.
