Côte d’Ivoire advances digital education by training 75 inspectors

As part of the second phase of the Digital Skills Development for Supervisory and Teaching Staff (DCNPEE) project, 75 educational inspectors from 25 DRENAET regions in Côte d’Ivoire enhanced their digital competencies. The training workshop, a UNESCO-MENAET initiative, took place in Yamoussoukro from May 4 to 6, 2026.

A workshop held in Yamoussoukro from May 4 to 6, 2026, brought together 75 educational inspectors from 25 DRENAET regions across Côte d’Ivoire. Organized by UNESCO and the Ministry of National Education, Literacy, and Technical Education (MENAET) via its Directorate of Technologies and Information Systems (DTSI), this event was a key part of the second phase of the DCNPEE project, designed to bolster the digital capabilities of key figures in the education system.

This training builds upon the project’s first phase, which successfully upskilled 43 inspectors. It reflects a commitment to achieving progressive and equitable national coverage. The project is instrumental in executing the country’s National Strategy for the Digitalization of Education (SNDECI 2024-2028).

Over three days, inspectors specializing in Mathematics, Life and Earth Sciences (SVT), and Physics-Chemistry were immersed in the use of digital tools. The training focused on practical skills such as creating educational content, designing interactive presentations, and integrating artificial intelligence into their professional routines. The main objective is to elevate the quality of teaching and foster more interactive learning environments.

Participants acknowledged the relevance of the training modules, considering them well-suited to the contemporary challenges facing the education system. Both UNESCO and the DTSI highlighted the strategic importance of the inspectors, who are now expected to act as ambassadors of this digital shift to teachers in their respective regions.

This event marks a significant milestone in the GIZ-funded DCNPEE 2 project. The next major activity will focus on strengthening the capacities of IT managers, furthering the ambition to establish a modern, inclusive, and high-performing Ivorian school system.
