On Saturday, May 23, 2026, the Blue Hall at the Tchad National Archives (ONAMA) hosted the launch of « The Evolution of Chad’s Parliamentary Life: 1960–2020 », a landmark 612-page work penned by former legislator Issa Hassana Adoum.
This meticulously researched book traces six decades of Chad’s parliamentary journey through five thematic chapters. It examines the nation’s institutional shifts, political milestones, and legislative transformations since gaining independence in 1960. Adoum’s analysis offers a rare glimpse into the country’s evolving governance structures, challenges faced, and progress achieved over time.
In his remarks, Adoum emphasized that the book represents a groundbreaking academic contribution to Chad’s political and constitutional history. Designed for scholars, historians, and policymakers, the publication serves as both a scholarly reference and a legacy resource for future generations.
The author clarified that the material originated from his doctoral thesis, later expanded and adapted for a broader audience. The book, written entirely in Arabic, sparked lively discussions during the event, with attendees urging full French translation to widen its accessibility for researchers, students, and general readers.
The evening concluded with an interactive book-signing session, where Adoum engaged with attendees and autographed copies of his work.
