Chad and Burkina Faso strengthen security ties against terrorism
The escalating security crisis in the Sahel has prompted Chad and Burkina Faso to deepen their defense collaboration. A high-level delegation from Chad’s Ministry of Public Security and Immigration, led by Police Commissioner Mahamat Ibrahim Man Man, held critical talks in Ouagadougou with Burkina Faso’s Minister of Security, Mahamadou Sana.
The discussions centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation in counterterrorism efforts, as outlined in an official statement from Chad’s security ministry. The meeting was described as a preparatory step ahead of a joint security commission aimed at addressing the shared challenge of terrorism.
Building a unified security framework
Mbaï-Naïssem Isaac Chamir, Legal Advisor to Chad’s Minister of Public Security and part of the delegation, emphasized the importance of leveraging both nations’ historical ties and operational experiences. The goal is to develop a security strategy that aligns with ground realities in the region.
While praising the warm reception extended to Chad’s delegation, Chamir expressed optimism that this momentum would lead to a robust, long-term, and mutually advantageous security partnership—one that respects each country’s sovereignty.
