Strengthening a legacy of shared security

On the heels of Chad’s prominent display at Cameroon’s 54th National Unity Day parade, officials from both nations convened in Yaoundé to advance their long-standing military partnership. Defense Minister Beti Assomo Joseph hosted Chadian Armed Forces Minister General Issakha Malloua Djamous in a high-level meeting focused on deepening defense collaboration.

The working session, held in an atmosphere of mutual respect, underscored the strategic importance of Cameroon-Chad defense relations. Both ministers highlighted shared security challenges facing the subregion and reaffirmed their commitment to joint efforts for regional stability.

The Chadian delegation, led by General Djamous, was welcomed with warm hospitality during the visit. Discussions centered on operational cooperation between the two militaries, with particular attention to countering transnational threats that demand coordinated responses.

Cameroon’s invitation of a Chadian National and Nomad Guard detachment to participate in the Unity Day parade symbolized the depth of military fraternity between the two countries. The delegation’s presence during the Yaoundé event served as a powerful demonstration of the enduring bonds forged through years of joint operations.

Beyond military matters, the meeting reflected a broader commitment to fostering unity and integration among Central African nations. By reinforcing these ties, both governments aim to contribute to the continent’s vision of collective peace and security.
