Benin health ministry selects 787 young professionals for fourth “Bridging the Gaps” cohort

The Beninese Ministry of Health has taken another step in strengthening the human resources of its healthcare system. In an official communiqué dated 7 October 2026, Minister Benjamin Hounkpatin unveiled the list of candidates selected for the fourth cohort of the “Bridging the Gaps” project.

Selection results and candidate categories

A total of 787 young health professionals, spread across four competency categories, were selected following the selection process. Candidates were rigorously ranked by order of merit.

Program objectives and funding

Funded by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), the program aims to reduce the shortage of healthcare personnel in public health facilities across the country.

Orientation sessions for selected agents

Before taking up their respective posts, the selected agents will participate in information and orientation sessions designed to prepare them for their new responsibilities. The schedule for these welcome and integration meetings will be specified later by the ministerial authorities.
