In an interview on Tuesday, 23 June 2026, the national president of the New Popular Movement (NMP) lashed out at Sunday’s debater on Info TV, calling him a man of legendary inconsistency.

Cameroonian politician Banda Kani is furious with tribal agitator Elimbi Lobe. During an interview posted on his page on Tuesday, 23 June 2026, the national president of the New Popular Movement (NMP) voiced his exasperation with Elimbi Lobe, particularly after the latter labelled nationalist Ernest Ouandié a “bandit” on Info TV, a green-screen station broadcasting from Yaoundé, Cameroon.

“By calling Ouandié a ‘bandit,’ Elimbi Lobe dishonoured himself,” declared pan-Africanist Banda Kani. In his view, Elimbi Lobe will never achieve the destiny of a strong political leader. “He has reduced himself to a good-for-nothing. He has turned into a political actor who will never have national stature in this country. He has shrunk to a small neighbourhood canton politician, playing a strategy to become a deputy,” he added.

When he was in SDF, could he make such statements?

Tapping into history, Banda Kani denounced Elimbi Lobe’s inconsistency, pointing out his different discourse when he was a member of the Social Democratic Front (SDF). “He is in an electoral strategy. Read his history. Take his own words in 2011 when he was in SDF. He glorified national integration. He even praised the role of the Bamiléké in nation-building, especially saying his best friend was a Bamiléké to whom he wanted to give his son’s name,” he continued.

“In 2015, he denounced tribalists. When he was in SDF, could he have made such statements? The party would have stopped him. You are dealing with a small politician who thinks that if he is elected deputy, his political career will reach its peak,” Banda Kani concluded.
