The solemn opening session of the General Assembly unfolded on July 9th in Yaoundé, Cameroon, drawing a distinguished gathering. Among the prominent attendees were the President of the Cameroonian Senate, the President of the Cameroonian National Assembly, and the President of the Cameroonian Economic and Social Council. Louise Mushikiwabo, the esteemed Secretary-General of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), also graced the occasion. The event welcomed a broad spectrum of eminent guests and over 350 delegates, including nearly twenty presidents and vice-presidents from member parliaments of the Assemblée Parlementaire Francophone (APF), representatives from the OIF, various diplomatic missions, and international organizations.

The primary agenda for this 51st General Assembly of the APF centered on crucial discussions spanning politics, democratic governance, economic development, social welfare, cultural exchange, and environmental sustainability. The overarching goal of the assembly was to fortify parliamentary cooperation among Francophone nations and to collectively devise effective strategies for the shared challenges confronting the vibrant Francophone community.
