On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé made an official visit to Kampala, Uganda, where he participated in the inauguration ceremony of President Yoweri Museveni, who secured re-election in the January 2026 general elections.
The event, themed ‘Safeguarding progress and advancing toward upper-middle-income status’, brought together African heads of state alongside delegations from Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

During the ceremony, President Gnassingbé extended his congratulations to President Museveni and expressed his wishes for a successful new term. In response, President Museveni praised the Togolese leader’s presence, highlighting the strong cooperative ties between Lomé and Kampala.
