Antoine Assalé Tiémoko, the mayor of Tiassalé, a vibrant city approximately 120 kilometers from Abidjan, has declared that communal transportation within the locality will be complimentary on weekends.
This innovative initiative is slated for implementation starting in late 2026, commencing with a pilot phase.
“This measure aligns with our strategy to redistribute municipal resources. Our commune’s own funds, derived from local taxes, have seen a significant increase from 24 million FCFA in 2019 to 91 million in 2025, with projections reaching 100 million in 2026,” Mayor Assalé explained in an informational note released on his official Meta account.
The groundbreaking announcement was initially made by the mayor on Friday, May 22, 2026, during the 11th annual accountability day held at Tiassalé’s wedding hall.
Assalé Tiémoko, a prominent political figure and journalist, currently serves as the mayor of Tiassalé commune and chairs the political movement “Aujourd’hui et demain, la Côte d’Ivoire (ADCI).”
