Following the presentation of the annual report and mandate of the Société nationale d’exploitation minière et de commercialisation (SONEMIC), the Minister of Mines, Fatimé Haram Acyl, expressed her satisfaction with the strategic direction and local innovations being implemented this Monday.

Local innovation as a source of national pride

The Minister highlighted homegrown technology as a major achievement. She noted her surprise at discovering a software system developed entirely by Chadians that tracks all issued mining permits. This digital tool, which already manages 147 permits, features direct interfaces with both customs and tax authorities, marking a significant step forward for transparency and reliability in the Tchad mining industry.

A strategic vision for future growth

Looking ahead, Fatimé Haram Acyl mentioned that mapping initiatives have launched in several provinces to secure reliable data and prevent land disputes. Furthermore, international collaborations are progressing, including discussions with partners in the Émirats regarding water processing and the establishment of an antimony refinery. These projects reflect a commitment to a structural shift in the national economy.

Leadership and unified communication

The Minister emphasized the importance of cohesive communication and strong leadership. She urged for a unified vision aligned with the Chef de l’État‘s objectives, stressing that collective action is essential to turn the mining and petroleum sectors into drivers for sustainable development and employment. “We must communicate the positive steps we are taking and move forward as one,” she insisted.

This annual review signifies a turning point for SONEMIC. Through resource mapping, local ingenuity, and global alliances, the industry is poised for significant change. Fatimé Haram Acyl concluded by stating that there is ample opportunity for all stakeholders, expressing confidence that Tchad will emerge victorious through this collective momentum.
