The Chadian President, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, left no room for doubt in his latest statement: «We will intensify our fight with unshaken resolve until this scourge is completely eradicated», he declared on social media. His words came in response to a brazen assault carried out by an offshoot of the jihadist faction Boko Haram against the Barka Tolorom military outpost, situated on the Chadian shoreline of Lake Chad. The attack claimed the lives of 24 soldiers, underscoring the persistent threat posed by the armed group.
