Maurice Digbeu Kipré, founder and chief executive officer of the Serenity insurance group in Côte d’Ivoire, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026 in Abidjan. He was 75 years old.
After completing his studies in Côte d’Ivoire and the United States, Kipré began his professional journey in 1979 at American International Group (AIG).
His career took a significant turn in 1988 when he was appointed as Director of Insurance at Côte d’Ivoire’s Ministry of Economy and Finance. Six years later, in 1993, he joined CICA-RE, where he held leadership responsibilities until early 2008.
In November 2008, Kipré established his own venture, Serenity, which quickly grew into one of the region’s most respected insurance companies. His legacy in the sector was further cemented through his involvement in key industry bodies, including the CIMA Regional Control Commission, the Executive Committee of the African Insurance Organisation (OAA), the Executive Board of the Federation of African National Insurance Companies (FANAF), and the Board of Directors of the International Insurance Institute in Yaoundé (IIA).
