pobè welcomes new leadership as liamidi odouchinan takes mayoral office
The communal council of Pobè has officially elected Liamidi Odouchinan as its new mayor this Wednesday, July 8. This significant appointment follows the departure of Clément Kouchadé, who was called to serve in the national government.

The municipality of Pobè now stands under new leadership. Following a meeting held this Wednesday, July 8, the local council confirmed Liamidi Odouchinan as the head of the communal executive. His election marks the end of a transitional period that began with the appointment of his predecessor, Clément Kouchadé, to a ministerial post.
A prominent member of the Union Progressiste Le Renouveau (UP Le Renouveau) party, Liamidi Odouchinan previously served on the communal council as Clément Kouchadé’s alternate. He also held the crucial position of chief of staff for the former mayor, giving him direct insight into the commune’s operations.
Odouchinan’s ascent within the communal council became necessary after Clément Kouchadé’s nomination as Minister of Secondary Education, Technical and Vocational Training. This significant government role was assigned during the cabinet reshuffle on May 24, under the administration of President Romuald Wadagni, thereby creating a vacancy in the mayoral office.
During the interim period, pending the selection of a permanent successor, the responsibilities of the mayoral office were entrusted to the first deputy mayor, Koukpo Zinsou Côme. This arrangement, established by a prefectural decree on June 1, 2026, ensured the uninterrupted functioning of the communal administration.
With his official election, Liamidi Odouchinan now assumes full command of the Pobè municipal government. He is tasked with steering the commune’s initiatives and advancing ongoing projects focused on local development and enhancing essential public services for its residents.
