A move that has drawn significant attention. Abdou Lô, identified as the younger brother of Prime Minister Ahmadou Al-Aminou Lô, has just secured his membership card for PASTEF – Les Patriotes. The decision comes at a politically delicate moment, with tensions running high between the party led by Ousmane Sonko and the current government.

The announcement, circulating since Sunday, includes images showing Abdou Lô as a newly registered member of the party headed by Ousmane Sonko. This unexpected move raises questions about the evolving dynamics within Senegal’s political landscape.

Abdou Lô’s enrollment in PASTEF follows a period of heightened political activity. Prime Minister Ahmadou Al-Aminou Lô was appointed to his position on May 25, 2026, succeeding Ousmane Sonko. However, his government was formed without any representation from PASTEF, despite the party holding a majority in the National Assembly. The party opted to remain outside the government structure at the time.
