The summer transfer window is well underway, and Olympique de Marseille is making headlines for all the wrong reasons. The club is under the watchful eye of UEFA and must offload players to avoid the risk of being banned from European competitions entirely. While the future of Mason Greenwood dominates discussions, another key player could also be packing his bags.

After a disastrous season, no one at Marseille feels safe. Missing out on Champions League qualification already forced les olympiens to tighten their belts, but the situation has become critical following uefa’s recent warning. New sporting director Grégory Lorenzi is working tirelessly across all fronts to navigate this crucial summer for the club.

Greenwood could leave Marseille

The first major case is already well known: everyone is talking about Mason Greenwood. The 24-year-old winger, Marseille’s top scorer over the past two seasons, seems to be on his way out, with Fenerbahçe and particularly AS Roma showing strong interest. Italian media report that negotiations with the roman club are advanced, though there has been a recent chill. Marseille reportedly took exception to the behaviour of roma’s directors, who allegedly contacted the player without first informing the club.

Højbjerg also on the way out?

While that situation appears to be stalling, another might be about to accelerate. Atalanta are keen to convince Pierre-Emile Højbjerg to leave Marseille. The Danish international is said to be the top target for new sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli, who previously tried to sign him for Juventus and is now ready to try again. And the door is not closed – quite the opposite. Reports from Bergamo indicate that Marseille have agreed to let the midfielder go, setting a minimum price of €10 million.
