N’Djamena champions african health at 25th international pharmaceutical forum

The Chadian capital, N’Djamena, proudly hosts the 25th International Pharmaceutical Forum, a pivotal gathering that brings together leading experts, healthcare professionals, and delegates from numerous African nations. This significant event centers on strengthening access to quality healthcare and championing the local production of essential medicines, aiming to tackle the critical challenges facing the pharmaceutical sector across the continent.
Representing the President of the Republic, Prime Minister and Head of Government, Mr. Allah Maye Halina, extended a warm welcome to all delegations from sister and friendly countries present in N’Djamena. He emphasized that their attendance not only honors Chad but also signifies a collective commitment to bolstering cooperation in the health domain.
It is with immense pleasure that the Republic of Chad welcomes this 25th edition of the International Pharmaceutical Forum, having previously hosted its 13th iteration. This assembly provides a unique platform for constructive dialogue, sharing valuable experiences, and collaboratively seeking solutions to contemporary health challenges. The International Pharmaceutical Forum transcends mere scientific exchange; it serves as a crucial framework for guiding public policy. The Prime Minister underscored the imperative for Africa to cultivate its capacity to produce a greater volume of medicines, vaccines, medical devices, and other vital health products, thereby effectively meeting the needs of its citizens. He further reiterated the Chadian government’s ongoing dedication to fortifying the national health system, broadening access to care, and consolidating domestic capabilities within the pharmaceutical sphere.
Dr. Abdelmadjid Abderahim Mahamat, the Minister of Public Health and Prevention, articulated that this forum offers an unparalleled opportunity to engage, exchange best practices, and forge enduring partnerships. He stressed the importance for participants to collectively identify practical solutions to overcome hurdles related to accessing quality medicines, refining pharmaceutical regulation, advancing training initiatives, and fostering innovation.
Speaking on behalf of InterOrdre, Mr. Laroussi Mustapha highlighted the profound significance of the opening of this 25th International Pharmaceutical Forum, particularly its theme: “Reinforcing access to healthcare: opportunities and challenges of local manufacturing and hospital pharmacy.”
