Mountain bike race becomes economic driver in east Cameroon

For years, the Chantal Biya International Mountain Bike (VTT) race — named after the wife of President Paul Biya — was primarily a sporting event. Now, as it gears up for its third edition, the competition is taking on a new strategic role: boosting territorial economic appeal. Scheduled for June 29, 2026, in Bertoua, the regional capital of Cameroon’s east, the race aims to position itself as a tool for local development.
