Morocco recently underscored the critical need to bolster safeguards for children impacted by armed conflicts, presenting its stance before the African Union’s Peace and Security Council (PSC) on Wednesday. The kingdom’s delegation specifically advocated for robust measures focusing on preventing child recruitment, ensuring their immediate safety, and facilitating their sustainable reintegration into society.
During a pivotal PSC session dedicated to the topic of “protecting child soldiers in Africa,” Moroccan representatives highlighted a stark reality: children consistently bear the brunt of ongoing hostilities across the continent. They detailed how young lives are tragically exposed to forced enlistment, pervasive violence, and the devastating interruption of their schooling, factors that collectively imperil their long-term prospects and overall well-being.
