The bond between Morocco and the United Arab Emirates stands as a shining example of a robust strategic alliance, forged through deep-rooted historical ties established by the late King Hassan II and Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who laid the groundwork for decades of mutual trust and cooperation.

This partnership is distinguished by a shared vision, reciprocal political backing, and a diversified economic collaboration that extends across multiple sectors. Regular high-level exchanges between the two nations underscore their commitment to addressing pressing international challenges together. Such harmony was recently on display when Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received King Mohammed VI in Rabat on June 2 for a private meeting at his residence, providing an opportunity to review regional and global developments with a focus on Gulf and Middle Eastern dynamics.

The meeting followed the formalization of a groundbreaking cooperation framework in December 2023, when both leaders sealed a partnership designed to elevate their economic, trade, industrial, and investment ties to match the depth of their political and people-to-people connections. As outlined in official statements, this initiative aims to translate their complementarity into tangible, high-impact projects that prioritize sustainable development and shared prosperity.

The collaboration rests on a foundation of unwavering mutual trust, enabling both sides to implement pragmatic solutions that serve their long-term interests. This includes mobilizing financial resources, fostering public-private partnerships, and attracting investment capital to support ventures with high added value. Key focus areas include food security, with planned synergies involving the Office chérifien des phosphates (OCP) to enhance fertilizer production, as well as joint ventures in tourism and real estate along the Mediterranean coast and in regions like Dakhla and Tarfaya. Rehabilitation efforts in earthquake-hit areas such as Al Haouz are also part of the agenda.

Morocco has consistently demonstrated its solidarity with its Gulf partners, particularly during regional tensions. During the recent conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, Morocco took a firm stance against Iranian aggression targeting Gulf states. King Mohammed VI reaffirmed this support in a phone call with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, reinforcing the strong political alignment between the two nations.
