Morocco Joins Gaza Stabilization Force with Peace Mission Commitment
High-ranking Moroccan officials formalized the Kingdom’s participation in the International Stabilization Force (ISF) for Gaza this week, signing a binding agreement that outlines the technical and operational framework for the deployment. The accord underscores a shared resolve to advance humanitarian and security initiatives aimed at fostering lasting peace and stability in the region.
The landmark signing ceremony took place at the headquarters of the National Defense Administration in Rabat, where Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, joined forces with Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration, to welcome Nickolay Mladenov, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process.
The meeting was attended by senior military leaders, including the Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the Southern Zone, alongside the Inspector General of the Royal Gendarmerie. Representing the ISF and the Gaza Peace Council was a high-level delegation led by the Force Commander and key advisors.
Morocco’s Strategic Commitment to Peace and Stability
During the discussions, Moroccan officials emphasized the Kingdom’s long-standing dedication to international peacekeeping, highlighting its extensive experience in United Nations-led missions. The participation in the Gaza stabilization force reflects Morocco’s unwavering commitment to promoting security and progress across the Middle East, rooted in the visionary initiatives championed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Senior officials at the meeting underscored the importance of regional integration projects that advance social development and security, aligning with Morocco’s broader foreign policy goals. The agreement signed in Rabat formalizes the deployment of elite officers from the Royal Armed Forces, personnel from the Royal Gendarmerie, and agents from the National Security Directorate (DGSN), in addition to the establishment of a mobile military hospital.
International Recognition of Morocco’s Peacebuilding Role
Representatives from the Gaza Peace Council and the ISF praised Morocco’s proactive stance in supporting peace efforts. They acknowledged the Kingdom’s contributions as a founding member of the Gaza Peace Council, a platform established under the patronage of international stakeholders to advance reconstruction and stabilization initiatives in Gaza.
The agreement signed this week serves as the legal foundation for Morocco’s involvement, ensuring a structured and effective contribution to the ISF mission. It paves the way for coordinated humanitarian and security operations designed to restore stability and rebuild trust in the region.
