Mjällby writes a new chapter in Swedish football with historic UCL debut

The unexpected Swedish champions of 2026 delivered a flawless European debut, crushing Gibraltar’s Lincoln Red Imps 3-0 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round.

A draw or even a narrow defeat would still see them progress to the next stage, where they would face the winner of the clash between Georgia’s Iberia 1999 and Slovakia’s Slovan Bratislava, who secured a 2-0 away victory in their own qualifier.

This season’s Champions League second qualifying round features heavyweights like Fenerbahçe, Thun, Dinamo Zagreb, Hearts, Red Star Belgrade, and Kairat Almaty, highlighting the magnitude of Mjällby’s achievement.
