In his latest weekly reflection published Monday, June 29, 2026, Maurice Kamto, national president of Cameroon’s Renaissance Movement (MRC), issues a stirring call for national resilience and hope in the face of political challenges.

The opposition leader has maintained this tradition for over a year, publishing a thought-provoking note every Monday.

“We now face a stark choice,” Kamto asserts. “Either we kill our future by surrendering to permanent subjugation, or we stand firm on the one leg still moving, the one arm still active, the one eye still open that refuses to close—because it sees the future where others see only emptiness. I will not abandon my faith in reason’s triumph. I will not. Behind the convulsions, the primitive herd instincts, the unreason and hatreds, it is the light of conscience that guides the march of peoples. This is what will save Cameroon. This is what will restore Africa.”

Kamto emphasizes that the country’s recovery is presented as both the engine and symbol of continental renewal, declaring that “Cameroon’s restoration is portrayed as the driving force behind Africa’s renaissance.”
