During a press briefing, military officials presented evidence of a meticulously planned operation involving vehicle-borne explosives. According to the army’s public relations deputy director, Commander Djibrila Maïga, one of the targeted vehicles was intended to strike directly inside the presidential residence. This lethal scheme was designed to eliminate our highest authorities, the commander declared, underscoring the gravity of the attempted coup.
Burkina Faso’s media crackdown following Bamako violence

Burkina Faso’s media regulator has suspended the broadcast of TV5Monde, accusing the international channel of promoting terrorist propaganda and undermining Mali’s transitional institutions. Since Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s ascent to power, several major news organizations—including well-known global outlets—have faced temporary bans, raising questions about the long-term impact on journalistic freedom in the region.
