A French official, arrested by Mali’s military junta in August 2025 and accused of conspiring against national institutions, has been convicted by the criminal chamber of the specialized counter-terrorism court.
Mali’s judicial authorities have handed a 20-year prison sentence to a French intelligence operative, who held diplomatic status and had been in detention for nearly ten months within the capital city of Bamako. The conviction, for “endangering the security of the state” in this Sahelian nation currently led by a junta, was confirmed on Friday.
