Sunday’s drone operations conducted by the Malian military in the country’s central region resulted in the tragic loss of at least ten civilian lives. Most of the victims were young men gathered for a traditional collective wedding celebration in the village of Téné, located in the San area. This incident unfolded against a backdrop of escalating security challenges across Mali, following large-scale coordinated attacks on April 25 and 26 carried out by jihadist factions from the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM), an Al-Qaeda-affiliated organization, alongside the predominantly Tuareg Azawad Liberation Front (FLA).
