Forces Armées Maliennes (FAMa) conducted a security and escort operation for civilian vehicles along the Kayes–Sandaré–Diéma–Bamako road corridor from June 23 to 29, 2026. The mission aimed to bolster safety on this vital route.

A first FAMa detachment escorted a convoy of 540 civilian trucks from Kayes to Sandaré. At the same time, a second group set off from Diéma on June 23 to meet the convoy, taking charge of the 540 trucks as well as several vehicles that had been stranded in Sandaré.

After regrouping in Diéma, the convoy grew to a total of 940 civilian trucks. Under FAMa escort, the convoy passed through Sebabougou, Kwala, Diédiéni, Kolokani and Kati before arriving in Bamako without any major incident.

This operation is part of the FAMa’s ongoing duties to secure strategic road axes, thereby ensuring the protection of road users and the free movement of goods and people across the national territory.
