The President of Gabon, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, convened an important meeting yesterday at the Palais de la Rénovation with Libreville’s mayor, Eugène Mba. This was their second interaction following their initial discussion on April 28, aimed at reinforcing oversight of local governance, assessing the performance of municipal executives, and fostering stronger collaboration between the central government and local administrations.

During the session, Mayor Mba provided a comprehensive progress report on the initiatives launched after his inauguration on April 24. He outlined the newly structured organizational framework of Libreville’s City Hall and highlighted key urban transformation projects. These include redesigning public spaces, developing modern parking facilities, creating green and botanical zones, curbing unauthorized encroachment on public land, upgrading neighborhood infrastructure, and accelerating the digitalization of municipal services.

President Oligui Nguema emphasized the urgent need to improve urban cleanliness, stressing that cleanliness is a top priority for the capital’s development. He called for intensified efforts to enhance household waste collection systems and ensure a healthier living environment for residents.

Reaffirming his commitment to building a modern and attractive Gabon, the President underscored that Libreville must set a global benchmark in urban planning, local governance, and public service delivery. He urged Mayor Mba to uphold high standards of discipline, creativity, and efficiency in executing the city’s ongoing and future projects.
