OL had formally requested a rescheduling of their match against Toulouse, originally set for August 22, 2026. The Lyon club’s rationale for the appeal stemmed from the potential necessity to engage in a Champions League playoff round, should they successfully navigate the third preliminary stage of Europe’s elite club competition. Despite these considerations, the LFP has opted against granting the deferral.
The opening weekend of Ligue 1 is scheduled to take place across August 21 to 23, 2026, with Olympique Lyonnais still slated to travel to Toulouse for their season debut.
