The transfer saga surrounding Yan Diomandé has intensified recently. The highly sought-after Ivorian winger was reportedly leaning towards joining Paris Saint-Germain, but RB Leipzig has made it clear they have no intention of letting him leave.

Following an impressive start to the World Cup, which mirrors his strong season with RB Leipzig, Yan Diomandé has attracted significant attention from top clubs. Despite being a priority target for Liverpool, reports indicated the Ivorian winger had chosen PSG, seemingly putting him on the path to a transfer with the reigning double European champions. However, Marcel Schäfer, RB Leipzig’s sporting director, has moved to temper the Parisian club’s expectations.
Leipzig dismisses PSG’s approach for Diomandé
“Our goal is unambiguous: Yan Diomandé will be playing for RB Leipzig next season. And we are not prepared to negotiate on this!” Schäfer declared. “We fully recognize his talent. Of course, if Yan continues performing at this level, the time will come for him to advance to the next stage of his career, but that will not be this year. Fundamentally, he is under a four-year contract, and we hold the key to his future. These current developments primarily serve as recognition of his excellent performances. Nothing more, nothing less. And if we don’t find a solution that suits us, then so be it, but he still has four years remaining on his contract. I reiterate: Yan Diomandé will remain a Leipzig player.”
“Our intention is clear: Yan Diomandé will play for RB Leipzig next year”
For his part, Yan Diomandé remained notably elusive regarding his future when questioned during a press conference. “You are informing me. I don’t have internet, I don’t have Instagram, I don’t have TikTok,” he stated. “My agent is in discussions with the club; I have no information. I don’t want to discuss this, not even with my agent, because playing in a World Cup is a rare opportunity that comes every four years, so it must be savored. I want to create history with my country and give my absolute best. My dream is to play for my nation. I no longer use Instagram or TikTok. I can’t see anything. I have an agent who will handle everything else. For me, the most crucial thing is to remain focused on the World Cup and make history.”
