Legal Response from San Mouhamadou’s Counsel Addresses Alleged Claims by Maxime Eko Eko
In a formal right of reply, Attorney Mélissa Nyoth, acting on behalf of her client San Mouhamadou, has categorically denied any reference to Maxime Eko Eko in a recent press statement. Below is the full text of the response.

Acting on behalf of Mr. San Mouhamadou, Attorney Nyoth expresses profound consternation regarding a press release dated August 9, 2026, attributed to the legal representatives of Mr. Léopold Maxime Eko Eko, which has been circulating on social media.
The document claims to respond to a press statement issued by Mr. San Mouhamadou on August 5, 2026, in which he allegedly implicated the Directorate General of External Research (DGRE)—a Cameroonian state institution—in seeking his professional services and network during 2020.
However, the opposing counsel asserts that Mr. San Mouhamadou:
- Sought an audience with Mr. Eko Eko to propose services;
- Failed to demonstrate valid credentials or official titles;
- That the DGRE ultimately declined the offers and severed all contact with Mr. San Mouhamadou;
- That no initial request for information or contractual agreement can be substantiated.
In rebuttal, Mr. San Mouhamadou emphasizes that his original statement was intended solely to correct misinformation and protect his professional reputation following the circulation of videos on July 24 and 25, 2026. He affirms that he never mentioned Mr. Eko Eko by name, suggesting the inaccuracies stem from a misunderstanding.
He provides evidence from February 1, 2020, at 7:09 AM, showing a direct message from Mr. Eko Eko stating: ‘I urgently need your help…’ This, he argues, establishes that the first contact was initiated by Mr. Eko Eko, not the other way around. Additionally, he highlights his credentials, including certification from the Institute of National Defense Studies, as proof of his expertise.
An informal amicable resolution was attempted immediately upon discovering the discrepancy, but no corrective action was taken. Despite holding Mr. Eko Eko in high regard, Mr. San Mouhamadou insists on defending his honor, reputation, and professional integrity. He has issued an urgent request for the withdrawal of the contested press release within 48 hours, warning that failure to comply will lead to the presentation of evidence and potential legal proceedings for defamation.
