Several hundred people kidnapped months ago by a Boko Haram faction in the town of Ngoshe, Borno state, northeastern Nigeria, have been freed, the Nigerian army announced on Sunday, June 7. A video released by the military shows frightened women and children being transported in vans and pickup trucks at night, then gathered under trees on the ground, surrounded by soldiers. The number of freed captives ranges from 360 to nearly 420, based on information gathered on the ground.
