The Bâtisseurs de l’Économie Africaine platform, a pan-African initiative, has unveiled its 20th-anniversary laureates, recognizing nations that have driven economic and social progress through effective public policies and sectoral achievements.
Key criteria and independent evaluation process
The winners were selected by an independent jury of African experts and journalists, assessing impactful public policies, economic performance, sectoral advancements, and contributions to continental integration. The selection reflected a rigorous evaluation of each nation’s strategies and results.
Côte d’Ivoire’s agricultural excellence recognized
Among the standout recipients, Côte d’Ivoire received high honours in the agriculture category, acknowledging its national programmes that have bolstered food security, rural development, and sustainable farming practices. The recognition underscores the country’s pivotal role in Africa’s agricultural transformation.
Sectoral champions across Africa
A diverse range of African nations were celebrated for their leadership in key sectors:
- Democratic Republic of the Congo – Mining sector excellence
- Seychelles – Education, vocational training, and employment initiatives
- Morocco – Healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and green development
- Egypt – Infrastructure development
- Kenya – Technology, artificial intelligence, and innovation
- Algeria – Energy sector progress
- South Africa – Industrial and service sector growth
- Tanzania – Tourism and hospitality leadership
- Nigeria – Creative and cultural industries
Special awards highlight social and regional contributions
Beyond sectoral achievements, special prizes were awarded to Namibia for advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment, and to Ghana for fostering diaspora engagement and regional integration. Morocco also received a 20-year special award for its comprehensive economic transformations.
Vision for sustainable African growth
Michel Russel Lohoré, founder of the Bâtisseurs de l’Économie Africaine, emphasized the initiative’s mission to spotlight not only enterprises and economic figures but also the public policies and national visions that drive long-term economic progress across Africa.
Valentin Mbougueng, jury president and international affairs specialist, highlighted that the jury’s deliberations incorporated global and regional rankings, specialized publications, and on-the-ground expertise to ensure a fair and comprehensive assessment.
Grand celebration in Abidjan
The laureates will be formally honoured at a gala event on 18 June in Abidjan, marking two decades of the platform’s commitment to celebrating Africa’s economic builders.
Established in 2006, the Bâtisseurs de l’Économie Africaine rewards businesses, institutions, and investors dedicated to the continent’s sustainable development.
