In Tchad, the judicial fate of Succès Masra has been sealed with the final confirmation of his 20-year prison sentence. On Thursday, the Supreme Court issued a definitive ruling, dismissing the appeal lodged by the former Prime Minister against the judgment delivered on August 9, 2025.
The leader of the Les Transformateurs party, alongside more than 70 other individuals, stands convicted of serious offenses. These charges include the promotion of racist and xenophobic rhetoric, criminal association, and complicity in murder related to the Mandakao massacre.
The defense team, headed by lawyer Kadjilembaye Francis, was unable to convince the high court to overturn the previous decision. With this ruling, all domestic legal avenues for the prominent political figure have been exhausted. Unless he receives a presidential pardon, Succès Masra is required to serve the entirety of his 20-year term.
Representatives from Les Transformateurs have expressed their outrage, labeling the court’s final decision as a shameful act. Experts note that from a legal standpoint, any further attempts to challenge this verdict would have to be brought before regional or international judicial institutions.
