Cameroon’s commitment to african stability
President Paul Biya has dispatched Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute to Luanda, Angola, to represent Cameroon at the 21st extraordinary session of the African Union Conference of Heads of State and Government. This critical assembly is set to deliberate on strengthening mechanisms for conflict prevention and resolution across the African continent.
Despite his recent high-profile return to Yaoundé, President Paul Biya opted not to personally attend the August 30th session in Luanda. Instead, he mandated Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute to convey Cameroon’s position and contribute to the vital discussions at this continental gathering.
Prime Minister Ngute’s departure from Yaoundé for Luanda on Saturday marks his engagement in a session specifically focused on fortifying strategies to prevent and resolve conflicts in Africa. Key crises expected to be addressed include the persistent Boko Haram insurgency in Cameroon’s Far North region and the ongoing separatist crisis impacting the nation’s Anglophone territories.
Following his commitments in Angola, the Prime Minister is scheduled to travel to Serbia. There, he will again represent President Paul Biya at a high-level meeting commemorating the 65th anniversary of the inaugural Conference of Heads of State and Government of Non-Aligned Countries. This significant event is slated to take place in Belgrade from August 31st to September 1st, 2026.
