The Minister of Security, Mahamadou Sana, witnessed firsthand the impressive efficiency of the electronic ticketing system for road infractions, merely twelve hours after its official activation. On August 1, 2026, at precisely midnight, the advanced system was deployed to automatically identify violations of the national Highway Code. By midday, Minister Sana was at the Video Protection Supervision Center, meticulously observing the real-time operational flow, accompanied by Zakaria Hebie, the Director General of Transmissions and Information Technology.

Minister Sana extended his commendations to the dedicated technical teams, highlighting their pivotal expertise in bringing this innovative digital solution to fruition. Within its initial half-day of operation, the system successfully logged a total of 1,099 infringements. These included common violations such as failing to wear a seatbelt, disregarding traffic signals, exceeding posted speed limits, and using a mobile phone while driving. Notably, five individuals who committed offenses had already settled their fines through the FASO ARZEKA platform, demonstrating the system’s end-to-end functionality.

Mahamadou Sana affirmed that these encouraging preliminary outcomes unequivocally underscore the system’s readiness and the government’s steadfast commitment to leveraging digital technologies to significantly enhance road safety across Burkina Faso. The Ministry reiterates its message that adherence to the Highway Code remains the most effective measure to avoid penalties and ensure a safer environment for all road users.
