After a disappointing season, Olympique de Marseille is determined to forge a new path for the 2025-2026 campaign. While numerous departures are anticipated, largely due to financial constraints, the club is reportedly considering bringing back a familiar Ligue 1 attacker. The name Martin Terrier has emerged in connection with Marseille, a prospect that appears to greatly appeal to Bruno Genesio, the newly appointed coach of the Phocaean city club.

Bruno Genesio steps in as the new coach for OM, replacing Habib Beye, whose tenure did not yield the desired turnaround in recent months. The 59-year-old tactician recently departed LOSC, but notably had a spell at Stade Rennais, where he managed Martin Terrier. The 29-year-old forward, who has been playing for Bayer Leverkusen since 2024, is believed to be a strong fit for OM.

OM eyeing Martin Terrier, Bruno Genesio delighted

In recent days, Martin Terrier‘s name has been circulating regarding a potential move to OM. The 29-year-old player could be a target explored by Marseille’s management for a possible transfer. This move would see him reunite with Bruno Genesio, who coached him at Rennes where he excelled between 2020 and 2024. As Thomas from La Tribune Olympienne conveyed, “Mohamed Toubache-Ter isn’t claiming that Olympique de Marseille isn’t interested in Martin Terrier, or vice-versa. He’s simply stating that a player directly calling a sporting director of another club to express interest doesn’t happen. Such calls seem highly improbable to me. I can, however, confirm OM’s interest in Martin Terrier. Currently, there are only discussions with the player, but nothing more at this stage! No offer has been made to Leverkusen. There are some ongoing talks between them. Bruno Genesio adores the player, he absolutely loves him.”

As the officially appointed new coach of OM, Bruno Genesio will aim to steer the Marseille club back to prominence. The former LOSC manager would reportedly be thrilled to welcome a player he has previously coached and knows intimately. Martin Terrier, meanwhile, is under contract with Bayer Leverkusen until 2029, and his current market value is estimated at €9M. OM will first need to orchestrate several player sales to replenish its finances.
