Eight civilians lost their lives and one was injured in a brutal nighttime assault attributed to Boko Haram militants in Cameroon’s Far North region.
The violent raid unfolded just before midnight on Friday in the village of Kangaleri, located in the Mayo-Sava department. The attack plunged the community into chaos as six individuals were killed instantly, while three others sustained life-threatening injuries. Two of the wounded later died from their injuries, bringing the provisional death toll to eight. Medical teams were still attending to one survivor as of Saturday morning.
The attackers struck under the cover of darkness, a tactic commonly employed by Boko Haram operatives before swiftly retreating into hiding. Authorities have yet to confirm details about the victims or the precise circumstances surrounding the ambush.

In a separate but concurrent incident, jihadist fighters linked to Boko Haram launched another raid on Tourou, a settlement within the Mokolo district near the Nigerian border. Witnesses reported that the attackers looted livestock and household goods before vandalizing a marketplace close to the town center. No casualties have been reported thus far in this second attack.
The Far North region of Cameroon continues to endure frequent cross-border incursions by Boko Haram militants and splinter factions, despite ongoing counterterrorism operations led by Cameroonian forces and allies of the Multinational Joint Task Force operating in the Lake Chad basin.
