Top officials from the Republic of Benin and the Kingdom of Morocco have expressed their satisfaction with the progress of bilateral cooperation during a recent meeting in Cotonou. The discussions, held ahead of the joint presidency of the 7th session of the Moroccan-Beninese Joint Cooperation Commission, highlighted the strong commitment of both nations to deepen and diversify their partnership.
During the talks, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, and Benin’s Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of the Integration of Afro-descendants, Corinne Amori Brunet, alongside the Minister Delegate for Resource Mobilization and Debt Management, Hugues Oscar Lokossou, reviewed the remarkable advancements achieved across multiple sectors since His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s state visit to Cotonou in June 2004.
The discussions also underscored the deep-rooted fraternal friendship and mutual respect between the two countries, as well as the strong bond between His Majesty King Mohammed VI and Benin’s President Romuald Wadagni. Both sides reaffirmed their shared ambition to establish a model of inter-African cooperation rooted in solidarity, exchange, and shared values.
Key sectors identified for enhanced collaboration include the economy, trade, industry, investment, tourism, agriculture, justice, security, vocational training, higher education, scientific research, health, digital transformation, and cultural exchange. The delegations emphasized the need to foster a robust economic partnership, encouraging private sector involvement to drive trade and mobilize resources for sustainable development.
