The deputy asserts that the former Prime Minister made highly critical comments about Bassirou Diomaye Faye during this specific call.
During a recent press briefing organized by Pastef-Les Patriotes, Deputy Amadou Ba disclosed what he termed the “truth” regarding telephone conversations reportedly held between Ousmane Sonko and Aminata Touré. These alleged calls occurred while Sonko, the current Prime Minister, was incarcerated. This revelation comes as Ba continues to defend the head of government amidst ongoing controversy surrounding the management of public funds.
According to the deputy, the former Prime Minister, Aminata Touré, allegedly expressed strong criticisms concerning Bassirou Diomaye Faye during one of these calls. Amadou Ba quoted her as saying to Ousmane Sonko: “Diomaye is incapable of leading this country. If you leave him here, he will not last two years.”
The parliamentarian finds these past statements difficult to reconcile with Aminata Touré’s current political stance. He accuses her of attempting to “change history” and reinterpret past events to align with the shifting political landscape and power dynamics.
Despite the intense exchanges now characterizing the rivalry between the two political factions, Amadou Ba urged calm, advocating for restraint over further escalation. “He is pushing us towards violence, and we will not engage,” Ba declared, reaffirming Pastef’s commitment to prioritizing political debate rather than direct confrontation.
