Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb, tasked by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, arrived in Chad this Monday for an official visit aimed at strengthening fraternal ties and expanding bilateral cooperation and partnership between Algeria and Chad.
Accompanying the prime minister are State Minister and Minister of Hydrocarbons Mohamed Arkab, Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies Mourad Adjal, as well as Director General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, Abed Hallouz. Several heads of national companies operating in hydrocarbons, energy, and electricity sectors are also part of the delegation.
Upon arrival at N’Djamena International Airport, the prime minister was welcomed by his Chadian counterpart, head of government Allamaye Halina, along with several members of the Chadian government and senior officials.
Following the welcome ceremony, the two prime ministers held a bilateral working session. They reviewed the progress of the distinguished relations between Algeria and Chad and exchanged views on ways to give new momentum to bilateral cooperation and expand its scope. This reflects the common will of both countries’ leaders to elevate fraternal and cooperative ties to broader horizons for the benefit of their brotherly peoples.
Groundbreaking for 40 MW power plant in N’Djamena
During the visit, the prime minister, together with his Chadian counterpart, will preside over the groundbreaking ceremony for a 40-megawatt solidarity power plant in the Farcha industrial zone of N’Djamena. The project will be executed by Sonelgaz International as a grant from Algeria to Chad, following President Tebboune’s directives and reaffirming Algeria’s commitment to supporting sustainable development in African brotherly countries through impactful structural projects that boost economic and social development.
The prime minister will also hold consultations with Chad’s President, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, focusing on prospects to strengthen the Algeria-Chad partnership and key regional and African issues of mutual interest.
This visit is part of the positive and growing momentum in Algeria-Chad relations, materializing the common determination of both nations’ leaders to elevate bilateral cooperation and reinforce economic and development partnership.
