The Algerian Ministry of National Defence has announced the delivery of a strategic military aid package to the Nigerien Armed Forces. This initiative, directly supervised by the Algerian Chief of Staff, General Saïd Chanegriha, underscores Algeria’s commitment to regional stability and security.
In strict compliance with presidential directives from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Algerian National People’s Army (ANP) transferred a substantial donation to Niger on Sunday, August 9, 2026. The consignment included four state-of-the-art helicopters—two MI-24V combat helicopters and two MI-171 utility helicopters—along with a comprehensive supply of ammunition, spare parts, and logistical support equipment.
The delivery was executed through a coordinated aerial operation. The helicopters took off from the In Gezzam secondary deployment base in the 6th Military Region, heading directly to Niamey’s international airport. Concurrently, a military transport aircraft carried the essential support materials to ensure operational readiness.
Strengthening regional partnerships
This gesture of solidarity is part of Algeria’s broader strategy to reinforce bilateral cooperation with neighboring countries, particularly in the domains of defence and security.
