Abidjan – Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello, a prominent figure and former candidate in the October 2025 presidential election, alongside his key associates, has announced a significant step in their political journey: the initiation of a new political party. This decision emerged from a comprehensive plenary assembly held in Abidjan on Saturday, July 11, 2026.
During the gathering, which brought together sympathizers and members of Mr. Don-Mello’s presidential campaign organizing committee, participants overwhelmingly endorsed a resolution to establish a fresh political entity.
This pivotal move follows the recommendations of a dedicated reflection commission. The commission, tasked with exploring organizational prospects for the movement, presented its report to the assembly, advocating for the creation of a structured political party to solidify and sustain the initiatives spearheaded by the former presidential contender.
Consequently, the assembly bestowed upon Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello the mandate to steer the formation process of this nascent political group. He is also charged with organizing the forthcoming “Congress of Pioneers,” an event slated to serve as the foundational act for the future party.
This undertaking signifies the evolution of the former candidate’s campaign apparatus into a formal political organization. The emerging party aims to position itself as a dynamic force for policy proposals, national unity, and democratic alternation. Its foundational principles will encompass democracy, social justice, robust governance, solidarity, meritocracy, and the unwavering pursuit of national sovereignty.
Following the proceedings, Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello expressed his gratitude to the attendees for their trust and outlined the broad vision of the political project. He extended an invitation to all patriotic, progressive, democratic, and sovereignist forces to join this initiative, envisioning a Côte d’Ivoire that is “more just, more prosperous, more united, and fully sovereign.”
Preparatory work for the “Congress of Pioneers” is set to commence immediately, with the specific date for this crucial meeting to be announced in due course.
Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello had previously run in the October 2025 presidential election, having been removed from his position as vice-president of the African Peoples’ Party – Côte d’Ivoire (PPA-CI).
