Academic launch of Club OHADA UAM and the 8th Pleading Ace competition in Niamey
The Club OHADA at the Université Abdou Moumouni in Niamey (Club OHADA UAM) is preparing to host its official academic reopening on May 22 and 23, 2026. Taking place from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, this year’s event is centered on the thought-provoking theme: “OHADA: The past, the present, and the future!”.
This scientific gathering is held in conjunction with the 8th edition of the “As de la Plaidoirie” (Pleading Ace) in OHADA Law. This prestigious contest aims to highlight judicial eloquence, foster a deeper understanding of the OHADA legal culture, and stimulate doctrinal reflection on the evolution of unified business law in Africa.
Selected themes for the competition
- Eliminary phase: “Is there a need to redefine business law within OHADA?”
- Grand final: “OHADA Law: Business law or law of economic activities?”
These topics reflect modern legal debates regarding the material scope of OHADA legislation and the adaptation of unified rules to the shifting economic landscape of the continent and the world.
Awards and recognition
Organizers have confirmed that the winner of the pleading competition will be honored with several prizes, including:
- A professional internship;

- An official trophy.
