Following President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema’s recent State of the Nation address, Pierre-Claver Maganga Moussavou, a prominent figure leading the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and a former Vice-President, offered his insights. He expressed considerable appreciation for the President’s message, highlighting its core themes of decisive action, accountability, and the necessity for a shift in national mindset. Maganga Moussavou emphasized that the head of state reaffirmed his commitment to the Gabonese people, urging citizens to fully embrace their destiny and reclaim control over the nation’s economic levers.
Pierre-Claver Maganga Moussavou firmly believes this forward-looking vision merits widespread backing, particularly concerning the opportunities it creates for the nation’s youth. He commended the strategic mechanisms put in place, notably through the Bank for Commerce and Entrepreneurship of Gabon (BCEG), viewing them as indispensable instruments for fostering private initiative and promoting economic self-reliance. “I am entirely aligned with the President’s discourse,” he stated, conveying his strong hope that the announced commitments will genuinely translate into concrete actions benefiting all Gabonese communities.
A nuanced backing
Acknowledging the formidable challenges that lie ahead for the new authorities, the PSD leader recognized that President Oligui Nguema’s mission is inherently intricate, given the high expectations from the Gabonese populace. Nevertheless, he asserted that the reforms initiated since August 30, 2023, provide a solid foundation upon which the country can build a renewed national impetus. In his view, only a collective mobilization will enable Gabon to effectively address the pressing economic, social, and institutional hurdles it currently faces.
Describing himself as a “clear-sighted opponent,” Pierre-Claver Maganga Moussavou reiterated his readiness to support any initiative that genuinely serves the broader national interest. “For his mission, he can count on me,” he affirmed, pledging his extensive experience to the nation-building process. Beyond any political differences, he advocated for responsible cooperation to accelerate the country’s development and fulfill the aspirations of the Gabonese people.
