The 5th edition of the tripartite forum involving RCA, Chad, and Cameroon has officially commenced, focusing on streamlining the transit of goods through Cameroonian maritime gateways. Organized by the Ministry of Transport, Civil Aviation, and National Meteorology alongside port authorities, the opening event took place this Monday, May 11, 2026, in N’Djamena, under the leadership of Minister Fatima Goukouni Weddeye.

Strengthening economic cooperation in Central Africa

Scheduled to run from May 11 to 13, 2026, this gathering serves as a vital strategic platform for dialogue. Its primary goal is to solidify economic bonds between Chad, the Central African Republic, and Cameroon.

During the session, the Cameroonian Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Masséna Ngallé Bibéhè, expressed his gratitude for the commitment shown by the leadership of the three nations. He emphasized that the port facilities in Cameroon are indispensable assets for both RCA and Chad, highlighting the historical and geographical ties that bind these neighbors together.

« The momentum generated by our three countries is encouraging and will continue to grow, » stated the Minister. He also touched upon a sensitive matter regarding a Cameroonian driver currently held in Chad, urging for a resolution based on the spirit of brotherhood.

Addressing the challenges of landlocked nations

In her official opening remarks, Minister Fatima Goukouni Weddeye pointed out the critical nature of this forum for landlocked territories. She explained that for Chad and RCA, which rely heavily on Cameroonian ports, the efficiency of the Douala and Kribi corridors is paramount. These routes directly influence market supply, the management of logistics expenses, and the overall economic competitiveness of the region.

Over the course of three days, representatives from both the public and private sectors will share expertise. They aim to identify practical strategies to ease transit processes, lower operational costs, and further advance RCA-Chad-Cameroon regional integration.
